Scared that I basically fell for scareware

Hi complete newbie here first time posting

I guess to keep it short, I’ve been getting kind of paranoid these past few months about any malware/rootkit running in the bg. To, for whatever reason, “go against the grain” I tried looking into some lesser known programs, the one I picked is “GridinSoft” and initially looking at the reviews I was found with lukewarm to somewhat favorable reviews which didn’t sound off any of my alarms.

I started the regular scan and got over 50 threat detections proving aaall of my paranoid suspictions. What I didn’t know was that the free trail ver only allowed for performing the scan but not actually deleting the found threats. In an irrational heat of the moment I made the purchase…

After that I started digging a lot more, of what little info there is on this software, and started getting a whole lot of scareware/rogue AV accusations

My ultimate question is, did I basically fuck myself by giving this company my banking info?
Or is it one of those half-truth situations, where they feed the user a bunch of FPs to initially scam them but then provide them with the same kind risk-free protection you’d except from other anti-malware?
