My name is Zack, and I graduated with my Bachelor’s in IT with a focus in Cybersecurity back in January 2020. I have been having a hard time finding any entry level cybersecurity jobs, and after months of not even being interviewed, I switched my strategy to try to land ANY job within the IT field. Even so, I still have not been able to land a role as an entry level support technician. I’l be honest, it has been very discouraging for me and has had me questioning whether or not I should go back to school to pursue a career in something else, even though this is really the path I want to go down in life.
I am unsure of whether I should pursue a certification or two, or potentially enroll in a bootcamp through an online program attached to an accredited University. I would focus particularly on a bootcamp that offers job assistance upon completion as well. I know this subreddit is filled with a wide range of professionals, from beginners to experts. I am open to any and all advice at this point, I’ve been feeling pretty down on myself lately because I feel stuck working the same job that helped pay my bills for my recent Bachelor’s degree. I am a smart guy and I know I would be a great asset to any business or corporation, I just need the right advice and set of eyes upon my resume. If it’s not any trouble, feel free to offer up your opinions or anecdotes, I will attach my resume as well in case that seems to be the first obstacle preventing me from landing a career job. If you’ve made it this far, I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read, and hope you have a great rest of your week. Thanks!
