Hello and good morning all! I am recent high school graduate, who transitioned from being a pharmacy tech, temp job, into an IT Assistant/Help Desk job for my alma mater small school district. I work with one other person in the IT department, the director, who also happens to be the person who taught me for 4 years and got me into the world of IT. I am enrolled in a Cyber Security boot camp from QuickStart in collaboration with a state university, which I’ve learned more than I thought I would from. I know people frown upon bootcamps, but that is besides the point. I also plan to obtain my bachelors degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance from WGU, an accredited online college. I plan to work the job I have now for 3 years, which will give me the time to obtain my desired certs and my degree, as well as relevant experience to add to a resume. I came to ask what can I do now to solidify and add less burden to my transition into a Cyber Security role? I plan to obtain CompTia A+, Security+, Network+ and also CySa+ and Pentest+. I would also like to get my CCNA and a few AWS certs and experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and giving any advice/criticism. Have a wonderful day.
