SSL always secure?

My trainer corrected me with my analogy about lack of security with SSL, that only having SSL can still put visitors at risk without web security.

I was under the impression sites with no web security, black hats have ways to obtain sensitive info – even within the SSL. But that’s not true? Thoughts?

SSL/TLS only protects the data in transit, and only if the ciphers are chosen well, and the keys are protected well.

Once the data is on the server, TLS config won’t do anything for you
