Virus scan found viruses from email attachments

Antivirus noob here. I use Mac Mail and sync several email clients. I ran a BitDefender virus scan and it found several viruses and Trojans that came from mail attachments. On close inspection it looks like they are Zip files. Are these active? Or are these just from mail and not legit threats unless they are opened?

I get spam emails all the time with what I assume are malware links but I never thought that syncing a mail client with Mac Mail would automatically download these and bring viruses to my Mac. I’d appreciate some insight on how much of a threat this is and whether I should consider removing the emails I have synced with Mac Mail.
