What happens when you upload a virus or malicious data onto a cloud service(aws, azure, Google drive)

I get that most likely each cloud service has some sort of antivirus protocols. But if you download a malicious file onto the cloud, could it potentially effect the cloud service?

In most cases, no, it won’t do anything.

They’re storing the file, not running it.

There’s no difference between *google_chrome.exe* and *mega_virus.exe* until you run it.

Now, I’m sure there’s some security researcher living in a dungeon somewhere that came up with a way to execute code in a cloud service when the cloud provider processes a specially crafted file, but that’s SUPER fringe. I’m seeing if there’s any documented instance of that happening, but I can’t find it.
