Why does a .exe file turn into a .dll file on VirusTotal?

Wanted to ask because I’m confused on why this happens. I think I read somewhere that you can convert a .dll to a .exe by modifying the file’s PE header attributes, but I have literally 0 idea what this means so I’m just confused.

By the way, here’s an example. I put “ESETOnlineScanner.exe” through VirusTotal, but for some reason it says it analyzed “[onlinescanner.dll](https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/c7f21f2cb9d54ade8377b89f3f8b5fef601a84f0218f20ab8db4ada74859da0d)”.

I looked at an exe and dll file with UltraEdit (hex editor) they look the same. Both start with MZ which is how an exe file begins.
