The UK has probably handled Covid-19 as well as any country, given the information available and expert advice offered … at least until it bowed to populist pressure to allow people to mix over Christmas. Now the infection rate has soared.
The government did not cause the leap in the infection rate. That is down to foolhardy people who ignored the advice to maintain social distancing, to wear masks, to wash their hands and to keep away from crowded or poorly ventilated places as much as possible.
It is embarrassing that so many Brits make a virtue of being irresponsible. Government policy will not change that.
