Will there be new changes in the VPN market?

Did you guys hear about VPN Trust Initiative (VTI) or i2coalition? I couldn’t find any threads about it here but saw an article on Techadvisor about it and thought it might be a good topic for a discussion here. Looks like top 5 VPN companies created principles that are going to ensure the quality standards for the whole VPN industry. Imho, it was quite smart to start an initiative like this because it’s getting more crucial to protect yourself online and use security tools like VPN. I mean, there’s so much leaks happening in different companies, social media, etc, so it’s important that VPN quality would be regulated by certain principles, especially when there are so many of them. What’s your opinion on this? Do you think it’s going to help to ensure VPN quality?

How does using a VPN protect against data leaks? I’m not aware of any recent breaches/leaks that wouldn’t have happened in an environment with greater/better VPN use.

I don’t think a bunch of marketing gibberish is going to have any impact at all on VPN quality.
