I’ve been reading the zeek documentation and running zeek on my home network, but it’s not clear to me if Zeek is able to gather MAC addresses or the OS of devices communicating on the network.

I’m trying to set up Zeek so that it’s sending logs about devices connected to the network to Splunk. Then from Splunk, I can export a spreadsheet or something that shows IP addresses of devices, their respective MAC addresses, Hostnames, Operating Systems. Anything that would be useful for a configuration management database. Eventually, we’ll set up a system like this on an enterprise network.

What can Zeek do in relation to the information I want to gather? Is there a better free tool that I should use?
